Study Visits

In September of 2022 a group from HSE Schools attended the Akron In Action visit/conference in Akron, OH.  The contingent was made up of the following individuals:  Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Executive Directors of Elementary and Secondary, Chief Equity Inclusion Officer, both high school principals, one junior high principal, and a school board member.

This visit provided the team with an opportunity to see the Ford NGL model in a public school environment.  We heard from school officials and had the opportunity to visit the various schools throughout the district and understand how the Academy concept is embedded.

A visit in the spring of 2023 to the Academies of Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee provided another opportunity for other administrators and board members to see this model in action.  Those in attendance included:  Superintendent, Director of PK-12 Initiatives, School Board President, Executive Director of Exceptional Learners, and the Director of The Academy (Alternative School).

School Visit

During the week of March 20, 2023 the Explore visit took place for HSE Schools.  In addition to speaking with various stakeholders, the Ford NGL Explore team visited five schools.  These schools included: Cumberland Road Elementary, Deer Creek Elementary, Sand Creek Intermediate, Fall Creek Junior High, and both Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern High School.  The purpose of the visit was to assess our ability as a district to scale up the work of the Ford NGL process.

Stakeholders who participated in visit included: School Board, HSE District Leadership, Experiential Learning Teachers, Fishers business and city-county leaders, Fishers Non-Profit/Post-Secondary institutions, parent focus groups at all grade levels, students, teachers, and building administration.
