Dr. Kimberly Fifer is currently the Director of Educational Innovation at the Central Indiana Educational Service Center where she leads the Indiana Career Collaborative. Kimberly is also a Ford Next Generation Learning Community Coach. Prior to these roles she served as Assistant Superintendent at Greater Clark County Schools and Clark-Pleasant Community Schools. She has spent 26 years in the field of education. Her career began in 1997 as a middle school teacher. After six years in the classroom, Dr. Fifer began a fourteen year adventure as a building principal in both the elementary and secondary settings. Leaving the building level in 2018, she entered district level leadership as an assistant superintendent at Greater Clark County School Corporation and most recently at Clark-Pleasant Community Schools.
Dr. Fifer’s tenure in education includes 20 years of work as an educational consultant. She specializes in supporting district and building level school leaders in strategic planning and working with turnaround schools.
In collaboration with her role in education, Dr. Fifer previously served as a board member and president of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce in DeKalb County, Indiana. The mission of the DeKalb County Chamber centered on connecting business, community and education, making it an amazing place to live, work and play. This experience led to Kimberly playing a key role in the implementation of the Academies of Greater Clark; a community-connected transformation model based on the Ford Next Generation Learning Model. In addition to her work implementing the career academy model, Dr. Fifer was the author of the first non-career and technical education locally created pathway approved by the Indiana State Board of Education under the new Graduation Pathway model.
Working to build systems, structures and processes to prepare students for their next step after high school is both a pride and passion for Dr. Fifer.
Dr. Fifer’s educational background includes an Associate of Science degree at Lincoln Trail College, Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Public Relations at Kentucky Wesleyan College, Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Eastern Illinois University, Masters degree in Educational Leadership at Indiana University, Educational Specialist degree at Indiana State University, and Doctorate in Education at Oakland City University.
